Admission Requirements for Higher Education in Armenia
In Armenia, higher education is imparted by the many different types of higher education institutions. The admission requirements of these institutions vary depending upon the academic programme and educational level.
General Admission Requirements
For bachelor degree, students must hold a secondary education graduation certificate or its equivalent.
For master’s degree, students must hold a bachelor’s degree or diploma specialist; and for doctoral degree, students must hold a master’s degree.
Each higher education institution in Armenia has specific admission requirements, so contact the institution for detailed information before applying.
Admission Procedure
Students must apply directly to the higher education institution of their choice. Fill out an application form and submit it along with the required documents.
International students must submit the documentation to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
Documentation
Following supporting documents must be submitted to the institution admission office:
Application form and fees
Application for admission addressed to the Minister of Education and Science, Armenia (for international students)
Health certificate: Indicating no infectious disease
A copy of passport or birth certificate
Four passport-size photos
Academic Certificates: Secondary education certificate or its equivalent; copies of the degrees earned
Curriculum Vitae: It should include your personal information, educational background, honors and awards, professional experience and interests, co-curricular activities or volunteer activities; and references.
Statement of Purpose: The SOP should include details about you, your academic interests and motivation, relevance of the previous activities and summarize your research (if any), career goals and skills you posses. It should depict an original picture of your personality. Keep it clear and concise
Letters of Recommendation: At least three recommendation letters from professors, faculty member or colleagues who know you and your capabilities well and can attest comment on your academic and professional capabilities.
Research proposal (for postgraduate studies): It should include research title or question, aim of research, methodology, significance, existing literature of the field, and references. The research proposal must be of 2-3 pages.
** All documents must be translated in English, Russian or Armenian.
English Language Proficiency
Either of the English test scores must be submitted:
TOEFL:
Test of English as a foreign language iBT score of 79 is acceptable.
IELTS:
International English language testing system score of 6.5 or above is acceptable.
